Importing from FSANZ
Use the FSANZ food database to quickly populate nutritional data for common ingredients.
What is the FSANZ Database?
Batchbase includes the full AUSNUT food composition database published by Food Standards Australia New Zealand. It contains nutritional data for over 5,700 foods commonly found in the Australian and New Zealand diet.
Using FSANZ data as a starting point saves significant time when entering nutritional information for raw materials or finished products.
Searching the Database
When adding or editing a raw material, click Search FSANZ Foods. Type a food name or code into the search bar — results update as you type.
Results show the food name, food group, and key nutrients. Click a result to preview the full nutritional profile before importing.
Importing Nutritional Data
Click Import on the food you want to use. The nutritional values from the FSANZ database are copied into your raw material record.
You can edit any imported values to reflect your specific supplier's data or laboratory analysis. Imported values are a starting point, not a substitute for verified product data.
Using FSANZ Data in Recipes
Once your raw materials have FSANZ-sourced nutritional data, Batchbase can calculate the nutrition panel for any recipe that uses those materials. The calculation is based on ingoing weights and accounts for moisture loss during cooking if yield factors are set.
